Greetings,
I am honored and thrilled to have been chosen as the new Principal of Clara Barton Elementary School. Many of my colleagues throughout the Chicago Public School system have expressed to me how wonderful the staff is at Barton. I am very excited about this upcoming school year and all the possibilities that await us.
My goal is to create a respectful, safe, challenging and fun environment that is able to effectively address the needs of our students, staff, families and community. Accomplishing this goal will require focus on what I like to call the "3I's":
Involving
All members are participating and adding value to the success of the school and each other. This is reflected through distributive leadership, shared decision making, classroom practice, extracurricular activities, and parent community activities.
Informing
Information shared contributes to the development and success of all members, including improving critical thinking skills, creating opportunities for access, increasing self, contextual and social awareness and providing rigorous curricula and instruction.
Inspiring
All members motivated to improve self, the school and the community. This shall be reflected through interactions that are respectful, positive and intentional.
We must work together with the community, our families and other stakeholders in order to accomplish this goal. As Principal of Clara Barton I will ensure that we develop the structures and systems needed to support our success. The success of our children and the impact on on the individuals who are responsible for them is a priority and must be at the heart of our decisions. We must be focused, collaborative, consistent, structured, compassionate, trusting and reflective if we are to achieve our desired results. Clara Barton's success will not be the results of one, but of many.
I am grateful for opportunity to service you, our students, families, and community. I am looking forward to an exciting school year!
Sincerely,
Frank London Gettridge, Principal
Clara Barton School
