Organizations
National Junior Honor Society
Students interested in applying for the National Junior Honor Society must be in the sixth, seventh, or eighth grade. Additionally, they must have demonstrated leadership and citizenship in the classroom and school activities. Students interested in applying should contact Mr. Hurd.
Math Club
The Middle School Math Club provides students in Grades 6 through 8 an opportunity to explore mathematics beyond the classroom curriculum in a collaborative, small-group setting. Students compete in local competitions, while drawing on Math questions from a variety of sources including past exams from highly regarded mathematics competitions. Those interested in applying for the Math Club should contact Mr. Hurd or Ms. Jones.
Debate League
The Middle School Debate Team focuses on improving their linguistic, social and critical thinking skills, while competing city-wide against other schools, traditional and non-traditional. Those students interested in joining the Debate Team should contact Mrs. Zechel or Ms. Lane.
Student Government Association (SGA)
SGA allows students to have a voice surrounding decisions made affecting their school. SGA members represent the pulse of the students and contribute to decisions involving school activities, student services and student organizations. SGA members are expected to be school leaders in the classroom and socially. Students interested in SGA should contact Mrs. Cain.
Matador Committee
The Matador is Clara Barton School’s magazine. Students on this committee work with the TrueStar Foundation in developing the magazine, which highlights faculty, programs, students, activities, community members and other events related to the school. This committee begins in the beginning of the school year with completion and publishing of the magazine due by the end of December.
Yearbook Committee
The Yearbook Committee develops Clara Barton School’s yearbook. Students on this committee work with the TrueStar Foundation in developing the yearbook, which highlights classroom photographs, school activities, the 8th grade graduating class, and more. This committee begins in January with its completion due by May.
Student Safety Patrol
Our Student Safety Patrol works with our Dean of Students and School Security to ensure that we provide the safest paths for our students to and from school. These students are expected to be leaders in the classroom and socially. Students interested in signing up with this committee should contact Mr. Griffin, Dean of Students.
