Dear Parent/Guardian:

We are excited about the beginning of year two for the new Clara Barton Elementary School.  We are again expecting great things from you and our students.  Our foundation for success must and will continue to focus around the importance of developing healthy relationships.  No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care!

Clara Barton’s new mantra beginning this year will be “Where Excellence is Expected”.  I am communicating a new expectation to our staff, students and families.  It is an expectation of Excellence!  Excellence at Clara Barton begins with you.  It is your expectation for yourself which manifests within your child; it is my expectation for myself which manifests throughout the staff; it is the teacher’s expectation for his/her self which manifests through the performance of their students; and so shall the name Clara Barton Elementary manifest a spirit of Excellence throughout the City of Chicago and the surrounding Auburn Gresham Community.

Everyone will have a part in creating this spirit of Excellence.

Staff

Teachers are expected to challenge students academically and socially.  This includes having clear objectives for what is to be learned, providing meaningful and connected homework and modeling the behavior expected of your child.

Students

Students are expected to attend on-time everyday.  They must be in class and prepared to work when class begins, this means having the necessary books needed and writing utensils. Students must be appropriately dressed and respectful of their peers and other adults.  Bullying will not be tolerated!

Parents

Parents will be expected to sign a Parent/School Partnership form outlining an agreement between you and your child’s classroom teacher.  This form will provide you with a map towards school success.  This partnership will also be a reminder that the success of our children is our main priority.

Sincerely,
